What Happens If It Rains? My Weather Policy, Explained
If you've ever planned a beach photoshoot, you already know: Florida weather has a mind of its own. One minute it's golden and glowing, the next there's a pop-up shower rolling in off the Gulf. So if you're booking a session with me and wondering "but what if it rains?" This one's for you.
Florida Weather Is... Florida Weather
Living on the Gulf Coast means living with sunshine, humidity, and the occasional surprise storm - sometimes all in the same afternoon. I plan every session around the forecast as closely as I can, but Mother Nature doesn't check anyone's calendar. That's exactly why I built a weather policy into every contract, so you know exactly what to expect if the sky doesn't cooperate.
How I Make the Call
Weather decisions are mine to make - and I take that responsibility seriously. I'll always try to notify you as early as possible if conditions are looking rough, but Gulf Coast weather is notoriously unpredictable, and pop-up storms can develop fast. So I reserve the right to make a final go/no-go call as late as one hour before your session, or even on-the-spot if conditions are still uncertain when we arrive.
If things look unstable but not yet unsafe, I may ask you to arrive a little early or take a short pause before we start shooting - just to see if conditions settle. Here's the important part: any delay like that doesn't count against your session time. Your full session length is still yours once it's safe to go.
If conditions don't improve within 30 minutes of our scheduled start time, I'll treat it as a weather-affected session and we'll go from there - either a complimentary reschedule or a fee adjustment, whichever works best for you.
What You're Entitled To
Here's the full picture of what the weather policy covers:
One complimentary reschedule. If weather forces us to call it, you get one no-cost reschedule to a mutually agreed date - no fees, no hassle. Additional weather reschedules may come with a small rebooking fee, but I'll always do my best to work something out.
Your retainer is always protected. No matter what happens with weather - even if we reschedule multiple times - your retainer is never at risk. Weather situations are never treated as a cancellation under my contract.
90 days to find a new date. Life gets busy, and I don't want you to feel rushed. You have up to 90 days from your original session date to reschedule. If for any reason we can't find a date that works within that window, your retainer will be refunded in full.
If your session gets cut short. If we do shoot but weather ends things early, and you'd rather keep the images we got than reschedule, I'll work out a fair adjustment to your session fee and delivered image count based on the time we had together.
A Tip for Traveling Clients
If you're visiting Pensacola Beach from out of town, I always recommend booking your session toward the beginning of your trip rather than the last day. That way, if weather does force a reschedule, we have a better shot at finding another evening during your stay - no flights to rebook, no memories missed.

I've stood on Pensacola Beach watching storm clouds roll in faster than the forecast promised, camera in hand, trying to get every last shot in before the rain won. Sessions get interrupted sometimes... that's just beach life. What matters is that you're never left wondering what happens next. You'll always know your options, and we'll figure it out together.
At the end of the day, weather is part of living somewhere this beautiful. A little rain doesn't mean your golden hour memories are off the table - it just means we adjust, reschedule, and get you those photos when the sky says yes. 🌅
